The Liminal Space of Art and Poetry

Cousins, Simone and Sasha have unravelled their stories onto paper.

Embracing their sensitivity to the movement of the world, trusting the human tendency to feel.

To feel something, is to get to know it in the most personal way and deepens ones articulation of self expression.

There is an emotive chemistry between poetry and art, their union conceives a language of its own.

The words of a poem become the medium for the canvas, each line drawn echoes an emotion felt from within the sentences, and the finished outcome is a full landscape of the heart of the poem itself.

Half of the human brain devotes itself to vision. Here the human eye is invited to feel the words through subtle hues of movement.

Words tend to linger, in this case their resonance walks onto a page, exhibiting their catalytic nature.

Poetry is translated into a rhythm, motion and depth through overlapping connecting lines, to speak to people through the language of art.

She

She is not a dancer,

For dancers imitate shapes based on sound.

She embodies each moment before her,

Regardless of the auditories around.

I recall her shadow passing by mine,

Confused how dark matter expresses itself as bright,

I realised later it's the fact she wears her weaknesses as war paint,

Self acceptance yet another strength she could use to fight.

I've watched her shape shift from moment to moment,

Have felt the power of her thoughts upon my skin,

Goosebumps among other numerous sensations,

To hear her stories is to travel where she's been.

I know to let her move results in stillness,

Natural moments where our mind and bodies rest,

If I were to attempt to lay a claim upon her,

She'd soon remind me of my position as her guest.

And rightfully so for like dusk and dawn she's every changing,

Reaching across air and space to redefine,

The edges of herself whilst staying translucent,

So through her I can see to remember mine.

Then in nostalgia realise the nature,

Of all as one to rise to fall, then rearrange,

Bundles of atoms creating spirals and currents,

Drawn to resonant energies for exchange.

Won’t you be my muse?

Amuse me with each quirk laden word.

Particularly those felt rather than heard.

Hydrating my mind with your thoughts.

Squeezed from the outskirts of a rose.

Owning petals as soft as your hands exploring my pose.

Seeping into forgiving sheets.

Comprehensive invitations made in each breath.

Capable of penetrating their depth.

Constantly sculpting stories.

Stumbling into these new characters.

To create or break the overall illusion.

Bottomless curves, whispering hypnotic serenades.

Waves of pleasure pushed by coexistence.

Gaps in numbers make no difference.

About Sasha

Sasha Hollis is an alternative movement and body therapist, her writing revisits simple moments in time from a more mindful perspective.

On paper the words shed a delicate and vulnerable skin, to share and evoke the raw emotions felt at the depth of each experience.

The words interlace to create a kinaesthetic journey, capturing emotion in time to relive and touch the most natural human tendency to feel, react and reconsider.

Personalised poetry art

Personalised pieces are available upon request. This can be created as a gift to yourself or a loved one, which encapsulates a particular event, time or moment in one’s life. A carefully designed questionnaire will be sent to you, once its answers have been studied, a video/phone call will be arranged to address any questions and fine tune the details, to give us a clear enough picture to collaborate and create a unique and original art print with poem, to reflect the nature of the person and subject. Ideas based on intuitive interpretation will be discussed with you throughout, ensuring you are an integral part of the creative process. The finished piece is then delivered to you, ready for you to present it to a loved one, sharing with them a piece of themselves, expressed in an entirely new and personal way.
